Refer a Woman

The Gatehouse a supportive living community for women — whether single or with children — leaving a crisis, such as abuse, poverty, homelessness, tragic divorce or other reasons.

Referrals must fulfill the minimum eligibility requirements (listed below) for possible enrollment in The Gatehouse.

  • Applicant is in a crisis situation that involves a housing need (woman can be single or have children)
  • Head of household must be at least 21 years old
  • Committed to engaging fully in the Program
  • Can provide proof of custody for children or of engagement in custody process
  • Willing and able to work
  • No active addictions (sober for one year)
  • No Child Protective Services (CPS) involvement as perpetrator
  • No convictions for violent crimes
  • No level of chronic mental illness that impedes full engagement in the Program
  • Not receiving or eligible for disability benefits
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

You can refer a woman and refer yourself. Applicants will receive a response within 2-3 weeks. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. If you need a list of emergency shelters to contact, click here.

GH personnel will not discuss decisions for denial with the applicant or a representative of the applicant.
